Ethics Resource Center

Welcome to the ECOA-ERC Benchmarking Initiative Homepage!

The Ethics Resource Center (ERC) and the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) have joined together to implement a benchmarking initiative for all ECOA members. The initiative will provide members with a baseline survey and key benchmarks they can use to gauge the effectiveness of their ethics and compliance programs.

What are the benefits of participation?

  • Sufficient data to conduct a top-line analysis of the impact of their ethics and compliance programs
  • Meaningful benchmarks to interpret individual organization's findings
  • Support further research on the practices that impact organizational ethics

How does it work?

ERC has licensed seven survey questions to ECOA for use by members. ECOA members can participate in the benchmarking initiative in one of two ways:

  1. Include the seven ERC core questions in their internal company survey, e.g., a human resources or employee opinion survey.
  2. Conduct a full scale ethics and compliance survey through an independent agreement with ERC. Contact ERC for more information about preferred rates offered to ECOA members.

The ECOA benchmark will be updated every six months, beginning in April 2007. To participate in the inaugural benchmark, ERC must receive survey data by February 28, 2007. To participate in the October 2007 benchmark, ERC must receive survey data by August 24, 2007; for the April 2008 benchmark, by February 22, 2008. All members participating in the initiative will receive access to the ECOA-ERC Benchmarking Initiative page, where they can view their organization’s data and comparisons to ECOA and national benchmarks.

How much is the participation fee and what does it include?

ECOA's sponsorship of this initiative allows ERC to charge a reduced participation fee of $3,500 per organization, which covers:

  • One-time use of the seven core questions for integration in to a separate survey
  • Access to ERC's survey help desk for advice in the integration of survey questions
  • ERC analysis of the extent to which company results indicate areas for concern and comparisons of the organization's data with ECOA benchmarks
  • The ability to share key insights with the ECOA community through an online bulletin board
  • White papers and resources
