Research Agenda

ERC is an established research leader in business ethics. Since 1994, ERC's National Business Ethics Survey® (NBES) has identified trends in organizational ethics from the perspective of the nation's workforce. In October 2005, ERC released the fourth iteration of NBES which provides measures of the impact of formal ethics and compliance program efforts, and identifies indicators of ethical culture within an organization.

Each year we define a research agenda based upon key issues in the field. The ERC research agenda for 2005-2006 involves the following:

  • Examining the impact of the "tone at the top" on employee ethical behavior;
  • Measuring the effectiveness of global and domestic ethics and compliance programs; and,
  • Understanding and measuring the ethical culture of an organization.

Building upon our respected position, ERC is expanding its research activities to continue to offer new insights into effective practices in business ethics. We are committed to sharing our findings with ethics professionals, business leaders, and the public at large through research reports, online resources, forums and newsletters.
