The Importance of the Student Fellows Program
2004

I decided to come to the SFP because it is important that we all act in an ethical manner and preserve our values. If we young people do not stand for it, who will?
In this journey, I learned how to be a leader and what responsibilities I will have when I become a leader. I am aware of the problems I will have to cope with and I know the solutions required. I recognized how important teamwork is, combining all the necessary factors; trust, honesty, friendship, and loyalty. There are times when no matter how strong you are, you can not prevail without a strong bond, and that is our mission: to work together in the battle for a more ethical future.
My favorite part of the SFP was representing my school, and being part of the most crucial and beneficial step of bringing an ethical environment and atmosphere to our community.
I would encourage my friends to participate next year in this heroic act, because the birth of light we have provided needs to keep shining, so that our hopes shall never die, and our spirits shall never fade away.
My experience at the SFP has vitalized my hope for a better future - for students to be more ethical, for teachers to be mature; for administration to trust students and to listen to our voice, and most of all, for Washington- Lee High School to be respected and to have a good reputation.
To help achieve all these goals, I plan to stand on the podium and to speak out about why I think it is so necessary for everyone in this community to be more ethical. I will try to get the parents and others who are outside the school to be more involved than they have ever been before. I will plan various kinds of activities to promote our values to the students who may feel it is boring. I will listen to what my colleagues think about this bold step we have taken, and I will spread their ideas, so that we can cement our position, our domain, and our presence in our school community.
I wish to join this group next year and the years to come.
