Professional development and confidence building
- Mentoring/partnership program?
Create an "Excellence Checklist": Have I?:
- TODAY:
- Double-checked all email for typos, appropriateness, language/tone?
- Dressed appropriately for a professional setting?
- Kept my office in a reasonably organized, neat fashion?
- Alerted the appropriate people involved in upcoming deadlines?
- IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS:
- Read at least one article for professional development?
- Shared new insights with at least two staff members?
- Sent at least one thank you note/email to a staff member/client/etc?
- Reviewed major deadlines to track progress?
- Reviewed all original proposals/project plans to verify that we are still "on target"?
- Kept the appropriate persons internally and externally up to date on progress of major projects?
- Exemplified each of our four core values (Honesty, Respect, Trust, and Excellence) in my dealings with all ERC stakeholders--both internally and externally?
- Have I improved on past failings and, where possible, sought to make amends?
- How have I lived our values more fully recently than in the past?
- Have I acknowledged ethical leadership in those around me?
- AFTER EACH MAJOR DELIVERABLE:
- Sought meaningful feedback from appropriate stakeholders? How?
- Met the expectations (in terms of both timing/procedures and quality)?
- If expectations were met, what made that possible? How can I/we replicate that in future projects/programs?
- If expectations were not met, why? What lessons can we learn and apply to future work?
- Captured /documented new knowledge gained from the project/this piece in such a way that others could find, understand, and replicate it?
- Shared new knowledge with relevant ERC staff members and, when appropriate, with external stakeholders?
- EACH SIX MONTHS:
- Learned more about my work and how to meet and exceed expectations?
- Applied new knowledge gained from one project/program to later projects/programs?
- Shared new knowledge with others?
- Sought the assistance of experts when solving problems?
- Attempted new ways of effectively addressing needs/challenges, and then meaningfully documented results and learnings?
