MAY 20 | Best Practice Forum | Supercharging E&C Communications

Following the 90-minute presentation, please join us for a 30-minute “BPF Fish Bowl” conversation and Q&A.

Part 1. Effective Communications
Effective communications — separate from and complementary to training — are a crucial part of any compliance program. (Even according to the DOJ.) Rethink Compliance will talk about how to develop emotional connections with your audience to create communications that enhance the overall effectiveness of your entire program.

         Learning Points:

    • The U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines differentiates between training and communications — and require both as components of an effective program.
    • Communication is about persuasion. And persuasion always starts with understanding the person with whom you’re talking.

Part 2. Pulling Communications Together – and making them stick!
John (Jack) Lenzi and Stacy Tietjen will share how they are operationalizing Compliance and Integrity messaging globally at CHS Inc., and how they enlisted the layers of management to integrate and deliver targeted communications creating localized impact while balancing risk and priorities across the company.

         Learning Points:

    • Having consistent messages interwoven and communicated by layers management on topics of integrity, controls, and compliance provides reinforcement of culture.
    • Providing resources to encourage managers to have integrity-related discussions with their teams will help make the messages stick.

Part 3. Agile and Targeted Approaches to E&C Communications
Lockheed Martin uses “Simpleshow” to produce “explainer videos” that can be quickly and cost-effectively developed and deployed to communicate complex topics and concepts.  Other communications tools and strategies in their portfolio ensure that they can deliver critical information to all levels of employees and leaders in timely, relevant and engaging ways.

         Learning Points:

    • Agile E&C programs can and must use technology solutions to deliver timely, cost-effective and relevant information to key stakeholders
    • Communications strategies are most effective when they are continuously assessed, monitored and adapted to the changing needs of targeted audiences
