Witt/Kieffer is assisting University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas in recruiting its new Associate Vice President for Compliance and Privacy (AVPCP).

Serving as the institutional chief compliance and privacy officer, the AVPCP will provide overall direction of the UTSW compliance program in support of the mission and strategic goals of UTSW. This position will report directly to Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., President, UTSW. This executive position is a mission-critical role dedicated to the continued integration of a coordinated compliance program serving the needs of a growing organization. The new AVPCP will continue to develop and oversee an enterprise-wide compliance program to support UTSW including, but not limited to UTSW University Hospitals & Clinics (Clements University Hospital and Zale Lipshy University Hospital) and UTSW Faculty Physicians.

The AVPCP will serve as a strategic business partner dedicated to managing and reducing potential risk and exposure to the external regulatory environment. The AVPCP will play a critical role in proactively developing and optimizing relationships throughout the organization, continuing to maintain a culture that actively seeks compliance input to further optimize UTSW’s day-to-day operations. This executive position serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical principles and compliance with federal and state law in all areas of this premier academic health system.

UTSW is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary and, since its inception, research has been the cornerstone upon which outstanding medical education and patient care have been built. The discoveries of UTSW’s Nobel Laureates have not only transformed science and medicine and set a standard of scientific excellence, but also helped establish a now, well-entrenched culture of collaboration and collegiality, making UTSW a very special academic environment. In addition to the ongoing activities of its departments, centers and other programs, UTSW has launched a number of important new initiatives in recent years including the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute, the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and medicine, and the Department of Bioinformatics. Currently, UTSW has 15 Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Investigators, four HHMI Faculty Scholars, and one HHMI Early Career Scientist on campus. As faculty members in basic science departments, their recognized leadership is an important source of UTSW’s strengths in biomedical research. In addition to its six Nobel laureates, three of who are still active on faculty, UTSW is home to 16 National Academy of Medicine members, 22 National Academy of Sciences members, two awardees of the Albert D. Laske Award in Basic Medical Research and 15 American Academy of Arts and Sciences members.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, policy administration, health administration or closely related field. While an advanced degree is preferred, certification in healthcare compliance (CHC, CHC-F at a minimum, CHRC and/or CCEP) is preferred. In addition, candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten years of experience in healthcare and knowledge of all elements of corporate compliance in relationship to practice plan management and healthcare delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finance. Prior experience in an academic medical center or complex integrated healthcare delivery system is strongly desired. The successful candidate will also be a transparent and collaborative leader, comfortable leading and supporting change in a complex environment.
