WittKieffer is assisting University of Iowa Health Care, based in Iowa City, Iowa, in recruiting its next Chief Compliance Officer (CCO).
Reporting to the Associate Vice President and CEO of UI Hospitals & Clinics and the Associate Vice President and Executive Dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine, the CCO is responsible for the direction and leadership of the compliance and privacy program for UI Health Care.
The new CCO will continue to develop and oversee an integrated, enterprise-wide compliance and privacy program to support UI Health Care. This is a mission-critical position dedicated to leading a compliance program serving the needs of a growing organization, which is committed to promoting the health of all Iowans through innovative care, excellent service, and exceptional outcomes. The CCO will establish themself as a visible, approachable individual who is a transparent, proactive, and effective communicator. The CCO will serve as a strategic business partner dedicated to managing and reducing potential risk and exposure to external regulatory review and scrutiny. S/he will play a critical role in proactively developing and optimizing relationships throughout the organization, building a culture that actively engages compliance to work with operations to optimize processes and compliance with applicable law.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree; a juris doctor, master’s degree in business, health care administration, public health or equivalent degree is preferred. Certification in health care compliance (CHC, CHC-F, CHRC and/or CCEP) is preferred. In addition, candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten (10) years of substantial and progressive compliance experience in healthcare and knowledge of all elements of corporate compliance in relationship to billing and coding laws and health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finance. Prior experience in an academic medical center or complex integrated healthcare delivery system is strongly desired. The successful candidate will also be a transparent and collaborative leader who is comfortable spearheading and supporting change in a complex environment.
