Position Summary

The Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) leads and continuously improves all aspects of the company’s enterprise-wide data privacy compliance program. The CPO will design and execute a global strategy to effectively protect the organization from current and emerging privacy risks. The CPO will manage and enhance, as appropriate, relevant privacy policies, processes, controls, and awareness initiatives. The CPO will also lead the company’s response to potential data breaches including root cause analysis and remediation, and any disclosures or notifications that may be required.

You will report to ADM’s Global Chief Compliance Officer, and be a member of the Compliance Office Leadership Team. The CPO will also serve on the company’s Global Information & Cyber Security Council.

Job Responsibilities

-Manage the company’s efforts to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations and company policies

-Oversee and update key compliance program elements, including policies, processes, controls, and awareness initiatives

-Maintain a current and thorough working knowledge of applicable global privacy laws/regulations (such as GDPR), and monitor regulatory environment to ensure continued effectiveness of compliance program amid changing regulatory landscape

-Act as the company’s privacy representative before U.S. and non-U.S. regulators, data protection authorities and other agencies.

-Own the company’s response to data breach incidents, including timely analysis, remediation, and disclosures/notification.

-Timely integrate acquisitions into ADM’s privacy program.

-Participate in data privacy and information protection related internal investigations.

-Perform timely data privacy reviews of contracts under negotiation and provide privacy analysis regarding investment opportunities

-Further improve and operationalize privacy impact assessments, expand data mapping efforts, cultivate privacy by design mindset, and ensure adherence to a robust incident response protocol

-Keep abreast and champion adoption of data privacy compliance standard methodologies.

-Build strong and collaborative relationships with key partners from IT Security, Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Global Security and the Business Units

-Develop and deliver awareness activities, and find opportunities to further increase data privacy and protection awareness across the organization

Job requirements

-College or University degree required; advanced degree (law or business) preferred

-Experience building, implementing and maintaining a data privacy compliance program

-Knowledgeable of global privacy laws (including GDPR) and compliance standard methodologies

-Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

-Strong collaboration, verbal and written communication skills

-Excellent analytical skills and judgement

-Ease with providing compliance advice and making difficult decisions regarding strategic business initiatives

-Work well with all levels of colleagues, especially senior leaders

-Program and process improvement advocacy

-Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments, prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines

-Commitment to timeliness, excellence and client service

-Agility, adaptability, creative thinking and openness to new ideas

-Mature individual with good judgment

-Ability to build links and positively influence outcomes
