Basic Privacy Policy

We will collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us. If you choose to provide personal information, such as your name, postal and e-mail address or telephone number, we will consider and keep that information private and confidential. We may use this information to inform you of ECI's products and services.

No Computer Tracking of Identifiable Information

When you visit our site to view any pages or use our online reference materials, you do so without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. You are free to browse our site without entering any personal information and therefore remain anonymous during your visit.

While we do not collect identifying information about visitors to our site, we do use standard software to automatically collect the following information about your visit for the strict purpose of tracking activity on our site:

  • The Internet domain and IP address from which you access our website;
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
  • The date and time you access our site;

Information Collected from E-mails and Web Forms

Your feedback may be used to administer or improve or promote the site, but we will not publish your name in association with any information you provide without contacting you and gaining your permission.

If you make a request for information or order one of our publications, the information you submit may also be entered into our internal stakeholder database. If at any time you choose not to be listed in our database, you may request that your name be omitted by sending an e-mail to and asking that your name be removed from the stakeholder database.

No Release of Information to Third Parties

Personal information will not be released to third parties except as necessary to further the purpose for which you provide the information and where it is legally required, such as in the investigation of a criminal offence, and in compliance with a search warrant or subpoena.

Anti-Spam Statement

Subscribers are added to our electronic mailing list on an opt-in permission basis.  From time to time you may receive emails from other ethics organizations we know and trust. You may unsubscribe through links in every mailing or by sending an email to

Furthermore, we do not send emails from false addresses or with misleading subject lines and we do not use email to seek business or donations from persons previously unknown to us. Please note that we have at times been subject to outsiders or worms using our domain name to create false return addresses; in the event you receive unexpected commercial email from any "" address, we ask that you send us a copy at so that we can investigate its source.
