The Carol R. Marshall Award

2024 Award Recipient 

ECI is pleased to announce Steve A. Linick, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Mercy Corps as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Carol R. Marshall Award at ECI’s annual conference, IMPACT 2024.  

Linick is recognized for leading the Mercy Corps’ Board of Directors through safeguarding training and his work with the Mercy Corps’ Ethics and Safeguarding Board Committee. His team’s initiatives and inclusiveness have led to innovative ways of engaging its 6,000 global team members including an internal “Jeopardy” competition, communications highlighting ethical risks, and implementing new global reporting mechanism policies. He is a leader that has made a true impact within his own company, local community, and the E&C field.  

Nominations for the Carol R. Marshall Award for Innovation in Corporate Ethics will reopen in Spring 2025.  

Award Criteria

  • Serves (or who has served) as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer or the equivalent in a for or non-profit business or government organization and is currently employed within that organization.
  • Demonstrates (or has demonstrated) innovation in:
    • Establishing an ethics and compliance program;
    • Building on an existing program; and/or
    • Advancing the ethics and compliance field.
  • Provides a role model for emerging leaders in ethics and compliance.
