ECI Community Webcast: Toolkit Talk: Self-Created Stress: Don’t Believe Everything You Think!
“Mind Traps” are cognitive distortions that can derail our normally healthy thinking processes toward unhealthy, unproductive, and non-factual places. Left unchecked, they can lead to engagement in negative, self-sabotaging choices and behaviors that impact people in both our personal and professional lives. Unethical decision-making often goes hand-in-hand with some of these cognitive distortions because critical thinking and cool-headed responsiveness skills are not applied.
Becoming consciously aware of the types of thoughts we have, is a first step in beginning to skillfully create new behavioral patterns and habits of response. In this presentation, learn the most common “Mind Traps” and understand how we don’t have to believe everything we think.
This topic is a component of the Stress Readiness Responsiveness & Resiliency Awareness + Actions Toolkit’s “whole systems” approach to building a workplace environment that is Ready, Responsive and Resilient whenever unexpected change and crisis occurs internally or externally. The toolkit’s creators are Kalwant Kaur and Suzanne Matthiessen.
